Policies

Shipping

Orders will ship within five business days of receiving cleared payment (usually much faster!). Every shipment always includes insurance, and shipments to most countries also have and door-to-door tracking (full list here).

To the US and United States Territories, we ship via USPS Priority Mail, which will typically arrive in 1-3 days depending on your location. Domestic packages valued at over $200 will include signature confirmation.

To Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore, we ship USPS First Class International, and to all other countries, we use Asendia, a collaboration between Swiss Post and La Poste. Both of these services will typically arrive in 14-21 days to most locations. Please understand that these delivery time frames are estimates and that we are unable to guarantee delivery dates.

Please double-check your shipping address before you finalize your order! We are not responsible for misdelivered or undelivered packages where the shipping address given to us was incorrect. Packages returned to us because of an incorrect address may be reshipped at the customer's expense or refunded less the original shipping cost.

Customs and Import Fees

Import fees, duties, handling fees, customs charges, or any other charge imposed by your government are the buyer's responsibility, and in accordance with US and international laws, we will not falsify customs forms. You can use an online duty calculator or contact your country's customs office directly to help estimate what import fees your purchase might incur in your country.

Items returned to us for nonpayment of import fees will be refunded less original shipping cost upon their safe return, or may be reshipped at the customer's request. Refused or abandoned packages often take several months to be returned to the sender, and the customer is responsible for additional postage costs to re-ship the package.

Returns

Our first priority is that you are thrilled with your purchase! If you are unhappy with your order for any reason, please contact us at hello@tangerinemenagerie.com within 48 hours of receipt to arrange a return.  Returned items must be postmarked within seven days of delivery and must be in their original, unworn condition. You will be responsible for paying return shipping costs, and we highly recommend using a tracked and insured shipping service, as we cannot be responsible for lost return packages. A refund less original shipping will be processed once we receive the item.

Please note that all Seconds Sale purchases are final sale.

Missing Packages

Although they will usually arrive much earlier, please allow up to 20 days from the date of shipment for domestic orders to arrive. For international shipments, please allow 40 days. In the event that your package does not arrive by that time, contact us and we will either refund or re-ship your order according to your preference and availability. You will be asked to sign a form for our insurance company verifying the non-receipt of your order before we will process your refund or ship a replacement brooch.

Items marked "delivered" on your tracking are considered delivered; we are not responsible for stolen packages. Please check with your local post office, neighbors, or anyone else living at your residence to see if the package may have been misplaced. We highly recommend reporting suspected mail theft to your Postal Inspector. For international buyers, your package may be held by your local post office or customs office for payment of import fees or taxes, which must be paid before you can collect it.

Damaged Items

If you receive an item which has been damaged during its journey to you, you may return it for a refund or a replacement, subject to availability. Please contact us immediately upon receipt with clear photos of the damage and original packaging. If you receive a damaged or incomplete order, it is very important that you keep the packaging! You will be asked to provide information for our insurance company.

Purchase Limits

In the interest of fairness to all of our customers, we enforce a purchase limit of one per design per household per release.

Right to Refuse Service

Tangerine Menagerie does not support or condone the resale of our brooches at inflated prices. We reserve the right to decline purchases by resellers or by those attempting to circumvent our purchase limit or lottery entry policies.

Buying Handmade

Julia designs, paints, assembles, and coats each brooch with resin by hand. This means that there will be small differences between pieces. Imperfections are inevitable and a mark of the handmade nature of these brooches. We use stock photos in our listings, so your brooch may vary slightly from the one shown. Please note that while we make every effort to take the most accurate photos possible, there will be some variation in colors due to individual paint batches and different screen displays.

Allergies

Our brooches are made in a smoke-free but dog-friendly house.

Care

We use high-quality materials in the construction of these pieces, and they should hold up well to regular use with proper care. The brooches are water-resistant, but not waterproof. Contact with perfumes, lotions, sunscreens, or other similar products may damage the finish. Brooches may break if dropped, struck, or snagged, so always wear and handle with care, and be especially mindful with things like handbag straps or seatbelts that might catch on them. You can use a soft, dry cloth to clean the surface; an eyeglasses cleaning cloth works great! We recommend storing your brooches away from direct sunlight to prevent fading.

Environmental

I love our planet and the creatures who inhabit it and take the threats posed by climate change extremely seriously. Especially as someone who uses plastic as the primary material for my brooches, I am always looking for ways to reduce Tangerine Menagerie’s climate impact. Every shipment since 2015 has been offset through carbonfund.org and I use recycled and recyclable shipping materials wherever possible. I also offset the carbon footprint of the energy used to run my office, and this website is hosted by FatCow, an EPA Green Power Partner, meaning that all of the energy used to host it is offset by 200%. With the exception of shipping labels, all other shipping materials I use are recycled with the highest percentage of post-consumer waste I can source.
